The structured settlements that were awarded to me and my brother after our parents untimely death are about to come due. Our grandparents have been taking care of us for the last ten years and they told us that when we turned eighteen that we would be receiving structured settlements every few years until we turned twenty five. I guess that our grandparents took care of all the details and approved everything.

My brother and I have been discussing to sell structured settlement payments to someone else or not. We know that the amount that we are getting very soon is not going to cover all of our college costs so having every penny that we can get right now is something that we think would be good. Our grandparents think that having that much money is not a good thing for teenagers to deal with. They are trying to talk us out of the idea to sell structured settlement payments and take it as it comes up.

My parents would have been happy with any amount that we had been given on our eighteenth birthday but since it is more than we have ever seen at one time, I think that I am going to hold off on cashing out and wait for a while.
